The season premiere of America’s Got Talent came with the typical menagerie of juggling, magic and singing, but for me it was all about the dancing. Frankly, I’m tired of reality shows about singers. Enough already. That’s precisely why I love AGT. Sure, there have been a few vocalists who have won out, but the dancers usually grab my attention. Tonight, there was one act that brought the house down in Atlanta—and don’t start comparing them to Fighting Gravity. They are quite different. Team iLuminate These guys use a completely sequenced dance routine, which is all apparently driven by a girl on a laptop. But it isn’t just fancy programming and lighting that make them great. They are all actually good dancers. Their styles range from break dancing and hip-hop to ballet. My only concern for them moving forward is that I’m not sure how quickly they can work out new routines. It needs to be fresh, and get better each time around. Miami All Stars This group was unreal.
