It is at the start of the second act of Bizet's "Carmen" that we see Carmen and her band of gypsy contrabandists waiting around and apparently bored at doing nothing but sitting around. There being a feeling in the air of uneasiness and restlessness in those who simply find themselves with nothing to do as the music of "Les Tringles Des Sistres Tintaient" slowly and delicately commences. Silently almost, as if it does not wish to be heard.
